Yellow parsley leaves

The causes of yellowing of parsley leaves can be different and to be able to identify them, correct and careful observation is necessary.

Why do parsley leaves turn yellow?

An aromatic plant widely used in cooking, parsley can quickly deteriorate. Yellowing of parsley leaves can occur for a variety of reasons. Only by identifying the exact causes can an assessment be made and the problem resolved.

Requiring  a precise amount of water  to grow properly, if parsley is over- or under-watered it can turn yellow. For this reason, parsley plants should be watered evenly, without overwatering or underwatering. At the same time, the plant tolerates well-drained soil, which prevents its roots from rotting and therefore yellowing.

Another reason that can cause parsley leaves to turn yellow is  excessive exposure to sunlight  . Indeed, the parsley must be placed in partial shade.

Among other causes,  infections  stand out, whether due to fungi, bacteria or parasites such as mites or aphids. If the plant does not have the nutrients essential for its growth, such as nitrogen or potassium, it could react with yellowing of the leaves. Yellowing can also occur due to the aging of the plant but also due to a transplant gone wrong. In this case however, the leaves can recover.

Even  temperatures  that are too high or too low can stress the plant and cause it to turn yellow. Also watch out for  excessive pruning or maintenance errors  .

Cut parsley leaves, bought at the supermarket and  stored in the refrigerator  , could turn yellow on their own, especially if they are not consumed in time. Let’s see how to solve the problem.
