3. Declutter and Organize
Start by decluttering each room. Go through your belongings and decide what to keep, donate, or discard. Organize your items to make cleaning more efficient. Remove any obstacles that might hinder your cleaning progress.
4. Dust from Top to Bottom
Begin with the highest points in the room, such as ceiling fans, light fixtures, and crown molding. Dust these areas thoroughly using a duster or a microfiber cloth. Work your way down, dusting shelves, furniture, and surfaces as you go. Don't forget to dust behind and underneath furniture.
5. Wipe Down Surfaces
Using an appropriate cleaner for each surface, wipe down countertops, tables, and other surfaces. Pay special attention to high-touch areas like doorknobs, light switches, and remote controls. Disinfect these surfaces to kill germs and prevent the spread of illness.
6. Clean Windows and Mirrors
Clean windows and mirrors with a glass cleaner or a mixture of water and vinegar. Use a microfiber cloth or newspaper to avoid streaks. Don't forget to clean window sills and tracks.
7. Scrub and Disinfect the Kitchen
The kitchen is often one of the dirtiest areas in a home. Clean and disinfect the sink, countertops, and appliances. Remove and clean the stove burners, oven racks, and microwave plate. Don't forget to empty and clean the inside of the refrigerator.
8. Deep Clean the Bathroom
Scrub the bathroom thoroughly, including the toilet, shower, bathtub, and sink. Use a bathroom-specific cleaner to tackle soap scum and mineral deposits. Replace the shower curtain liner if necessary. Clean and disinfect the floor around the toilet.
9. Vacuum and Mop Floors
Vacuum all carpets, rugs, and upholstery, paying special attention to corners and edges. Use attachments to clean upholstery and reach tight spaces. After vacuuming, mop hard floors with a suitable cleaner, following the manufacturer's instructions.
