1. Method: Scald the peppers
If you want to turn the peppers into sauce or soup, this is a good method for peeling peppers. Here’s how to do it:
Place the quartered peppers in a saucepan.
Pour boiling water over the peppers and let them steep briefly.
It is best to heat water in an electric kettle, it goes quickly and saves energy. Cool the peppers with cold water.
Now you can remove the skin from the peppers with a knife.
2. Method: Roast the peppers in the oven
If you roast the peppers in the oven, you can then not only peel them very easily, but they also get an excellent grilled flavor that goes well with antipasto, for example. Here’s how to do it:
Preheat the oven to a high temperature (at least 200 degrees). Place the quartered peppers with the inside side down on a baking sheet. Prepare it with baking paper beforehand. Brush the peppers with oil. Place the baking tray on the upper oven rack and, if available, activate the grill function. After 10 to 15 minutes, the skins of the peppers will be dark and blistered. Turn off the oven, cover the peppers with a damp cloth and let them cool. Now you can easily remove the skin from the peppers.
