Carolyn Forte, Director of the Cleaning Laboratory at the Good Housekeeping Institute said that since there are mites everywhere, it could not make much difference to let your bed undone. But she adds that it would be wise to leave your bed undone for a while in the morning so as to let the sheets dry after all your night movements.

During our sleep, we sweat and our skin peels and lay down these dandruffs on the sheets – offering a real feast for the dust mites, the inhabitants of our bed.

“A thing as simple as letting the bed undone during the day can remove the moisture from the sheets and mattresses so that the dust mites dehydrate and die,” he added.

So, yes, the experts recommend leaving your bed undone all day – and only make your bed in the evening when you go home.

After a day of exposure to fresh air and light, many of the dusts in your bed will be dead, which will allow you to breathe a little more easily, and this will be a scientific excuse to explain why you have not made your bed.
