DIY Natural Homemade Mosquito Repellent Spray | Effective & Easy Recipe with Lemongrass

10 drops of lemongrass essential oil

5 drops of citronella essential oil (optional, for extra protection)

1 tablespoon of witch hazel or vodka (acts as an emulsifier)

1/4 cup of water

1 tablespoon of jojoba oil or coconut oil (optional, for moisturizing the skin)

A small spray bottle (4 oz or 120 ml)

Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Spray Bottle
Clean your spray bottle thoroughly and ensure it is dry before use.

Step 2: Mix the Essential Oils
In a small bowl or directly in the spray bottle, combine 10 drops of lemongrass essential oil and 5 drops of citronella essential oil (if using). Citronella oil adds an extra layer of mosquito-repelling power.

Step 3: Add Witch Hazel or Vodka
Add 1 tablespoon of witch hazel or vodka to the essential oil mixture. This acts as an emulsifier to help the oils mix better with water and extend the spray’s shelf life.

Step 4: Add Water
Pour 1/4 cup of water into the spray bottle, leaving a little room at the top for mixing. The water helps dilute the essential oils so the spray is safe to use on the skin.

Step 5: Optional – Add Jojoba or Coconut Oil
If you want to add a moisturizing effect to the repellent, mix in 1 tablespoon of jojoba oil or coconut oil. This will help keep your skin soft while still repelling mosquitoes.

Step 6: Shake Well
Shake the spray bottle vigorously to ensure all the ingredients are well mixed.

How to Use the Mosquito Repellent:
Apply on Skin: Spray the natural repellent on exposed skin, avoiding the eyes and mouth. Reapply every 2-3 hours for maximum effectiveness.

Spray Around Your Home: You can also spray it around doorways, windows, and outdoor areas where mosquitoes tend to gather.

For Pets: This natural spray can also be lightly misted on your pets to help keep mosquitoes away (just be sure to avoid the face).
