6 cups of water to soak the beans.
1 pound of dried navy beans (16 ounces), washed
1 can of chopped tomatoes (14.5 ounces)
1/2 pound of ham that has been cut into small cubes.

2 pieces of celery, cut into small pieces
2 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce
1 small piece of garlic, chopped

1 leaf from the bay tree
3 more cups of water
