Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Puff Pastry

Preheat your oven to 180°C (356°F).
On a floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to your desired thickness. Thinner pastry will yield a lighter texture, while thicker pastry will provide a heartier bite.
Using a spatula or the back of a spoon, evenly spread the mustard over the puff pastry.
Step 2: Add the Fillings 4. Distribute the sliced ham evenly over the mustard-coated pastry. 5. Top the ham with the cheese, spreading it evenly.

Step 3: Fold and Seal 6. Fold the puff pastry over the filling to create a sealed pocket or shape it as desired. 7. Beat the egg and brush it over the top of the pastry for a shiny, golden finish.

Step 4: Bake 8. Place the pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until golden and puffed. It should be nicely browned after about 20 minutes.

Step 5: Make the Béchamel Sauce 9. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Whisk in the flour and cook for about 2 minutes, until a paste forms. 10. Slowly pour in the milk while whisking continuously to prevent lumps. Cook until the sauce thickens. 11. Add nutmeg, black pepper, salt, and grated Parmesan cheese, whisking until smooth and the cheese has melted.

Step 6: Serve and Finish 12. Allow the puff pastry to cool slightly on a wire rack after baking. 13. Drizzle the béchamel sauce over the warm pastry or serve it on the side for dipping. 14. Garnish with finely sliced pickled cucumbers for a zesty flavor and added texture.
