Prepare the Broccoli: Wash the broccoli thoroughly. Using a box grater, grate the broccoli, including the stems, until you have fine, rice-sized pieces.
Sauté the Garlic: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to let it brown.
Add the Broccoli: Add the grated broccoli to the skillet, stirring well to coat it in the oil and garlic.
Season and Sauté: Season with salt and pepper to taste. Sauté the broccoli for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally until it’s tender but still bright green.
Add Lemon and Optional Ingredients: Remove from heat and squeeze fresh lemon juice over the broccoli. For added flavor, you can sprinkle grated Parmesan, crushed red pepper, or chopped nuts on top.
Serve Warm: Transfer to a serving dish and enjoy immediately as a side or as a base for your favorite proteins.
