The Test in Water
The water test is an easy one to do. Pour some water into a glass and add some rice. Because of its lower density, synthetic rice is said to float on top of the water, but real rice will always sink. It should be noted that this test may not be completely accurate for all processed rice products because of the additional components.
A Fire Experiment
The fire test is an alternative for individuals who choose to go farther with their investigations. See if you can ignite some rice grains on fire using a lighter. The aroma of smoke will waft from cooked rice, just as from any other grain. In contrast, plastic rice may melt and even smell plasticky when it does.
