Ingredients:
1 lb Italian sausage (sweet or hot, as preferred)
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 bell peppers (1 red, 1 green), thinly sliced
1 large onion, thinly sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
1/4 cup marinara sauce or diced tomatoes (optional for a saucier dish)
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh basil or parsley for garnish
Italian rolls (optional, for serving)
Instructions:
Cook the sausages: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sausages and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
