Homemade Apricot Jam-Filled Buns: A Sweet Delight for Any Occasion

Preparing the Dough
Activate the Yeast:
In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, a pinch of sugar, and the active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
Mix the Dry Ingredients:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, remaining sugar, and salt.
Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
Add the melted butter, egg, and frothy yeast mixture to the dry ingredients. Mix until a soft dough forms.
Knead the Dough:
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. You can also use a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment.
Let the Dough Rise:
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
Assembling the Buns
Divide the Dough:
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
Fill the Buns:
Flatten each piece of dough into a small circle. Place a tablespoon of apricot jam in the center of each circle. Bring the edges of the dough together to seal the jam inside, forming a ball. Place the buns seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Second Rise:
Cover the buns with a clean kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Baking the Buns
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Egg Wash:
Brush the tops of the buns with the beaten egg for a glossy finish.
