In the same skillet, add the thinly sliced steak. Season with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce (if using). Cook for 3–4 minutes until the steak is browned and cooked to your desired level of doneness. Return the sautéed vegetables to the skillet and mix well. Remove from heat.
Step 3: Make the Cheese Sauce
Prepare the Sauce Base
In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk for about 1 minute to create a roux.
Add Cream
Gradually whisk in the heavy cream, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
Add Cheese
Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the shredded provolone cheese (or cheese blend) until melted and smooth. Add Dijon mustard (if using), and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 4: Assemble the Dish
Layer the Fries
Once the fries are cooked, place them on a large serving platter or baking sheet.
Top with Steak and Cheese
Layer the cooked steak and vegetables evenly over the fries. Drizzle the cheese sauce generously over the top.
Step 5: Serve
Garnish
Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and sliced jalapeños (if desired). Serve immediately with ketchup or hot sauce on the side.
