Tips and Variations
Meat Alternatives: While pork shoulder is traditional, you can also use chicken thighs or beef for a different take on Chili Verde.
Vegetarian Version: Substitute the meat with hearty vegetables like zucchini, potatoes, and beans for a vegetarian version.
Pepper Varieties: Adjust the heat level by using different types of peppers. For a milder sauce, omit the jalapeños and use Anaheim peppers instead.
Make Ahead: Chili Verde tastes even better the next day. Prepare it ahead of time, store it in the refrigerator, and reheat it for a quick and flavorful meal.
How to Store Leftovers
Store any leftover Chili Verde in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. To reheat, place a portion in a microwave-safe dish and heat on high for 2-3 minutes, or reheat on the stovetop over medium heat until warmed through. Chili Verde can also be frozen for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.
