Willie Mae Truesdale was in her kitchen when she heard a loud explosion. She went to look and found pieces of her oven door all over the floor. “It was shocking and really had to be seen to be believed,” she explained.
“It was like what the hell. Broken glass, there was glass here on the ground.” His oven wasn’t even on at the time, which made things even messier. More terrifying is the fact that Truesdale is not the only homeowner whose furnace has exploded.
The strange case of exploding glass oven doors
During the COVID-19 lockdown, Cheryl, a suburban mom, had a similar shock. There was a hole in the middle of the brownies she tried to bake. She discovered that her oven was at about 25 degrees even though she was only three months old. Once she was out of quarantine, she called a professional to fix her device. However, she first set it to self-cleaning mode. Near the end, there was a loud explosion and the oven was hit by broken glass from inside the door.
