Ingredients:
- 1 9-inch pie crust, homemade or store-bought
- 8 slices of bacon, chopped
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Directions:
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C), dear heart. It's important to get everything nice and toasty before we start.
2. If you’ve gone the store-bought route, fit the pie crust into a 9-inch pie pan. If you've handmade your crust, you're already ahead of the game; just crimp the edges for that handcrafted touch.
3. In a skillet over medium heat, cook your chopped bacon until it’s as crisp as a fresh autumn morning. Once done, transfer it to a paper towel-lined plate to dab away any excess grease.
4. Sprinkle half of the cheese onto the bottom of the crust, like a layer of warm winter bedding. Add your cooked bacon on top, setting the stage for the real magic.
5. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. This mixture holds the promise of a meal that feels like a hug.
