Cut the meat into pieces.

Veal Marengo, Italian stew. Rinse and dry the mushrooms, cut them into quarters.

Veal Marengo, Italian stew. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a casserole dish. Place the pieces of meat and let them brown without stirring. Turn them over to brown the other sides.
