Your Earwax Can Tell How Healthy You Are: What Color Is Yours?

Earwax, a sticky substance produced by your body, plays a vital role in preventing bacteria and dirt from entering the ear canal. It keeps the ears clean, healthy, and functional. Earwax is composed of long-chain fatty acids, squalene, and alcohol. The color and texture of earwax can provide insights into your health.

What Your Earwax Color Means:
1. Yellow, Wet, and Sticky:

Most common type in adults. Its wet and sticky texture keeps the ear canal clean and prevents it from drying out and becoming itchy.
2. Gray:

Unusual but generally harmless. The gray color results from the ear’s natural cleaning process. If dry and brittle accompanied by itchiness, it may indicate eczema. Consult a doctor if symptoms persist.
3. Pale Yellow:

Common in children who produce more earwax than adults. Production decreases as they grow older.
4. Sticky and Dark:

Indicates increased perspiration. The darker color suggests the body is sweating more, which can cause body odor. This type is still healthy.

5. Dark and Thick:
