Homemade ginger drinks – warming and refreshing

1. Preparation of ginger: Wash and grate the ginger, chop it finely or press it through a juicer. You can also crush it slightly in a mortar.

2. Combine ingredients: In a jug, combine cold water, ginger, lemon juice, and honey. Mix thoroughly.

3. Chill: Place the drink in the fridge for at least 1–2 hours – this will allow the flavours to blend and the drink will be even more refreshing.
4. Serve well chilled, preferably with ice. It tastes great with the addition of lemon slices, fresh mint, cucumber or a few pomegranate seeds.

Tips:

You can add other ingredients to the drink: turmeric, cinnamon, cayenne pepper or cloves.
For a vegan version, use maple syrup instead of honey.
Both versions can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days.
Ginger is a powerful ingredient – if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or have a chronic disease, it is worth consulting a doctor before regular consumption.
