Here’s a classic recipe for Shepherd’s Pie—a comforting, hearty dish made with a flavorful meat filling and creamy mashed potatoes on top!

Shepherd’s Pie Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Filling:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground lamb (traditional, but ground beef can be used if preferred)
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 carrots, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup beef or vegetable broth
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme (or 1 tablespoon fresh thyme)
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary (or 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for cooking)

For the Mashed Potatoes:

  • 2 lbs (900g) potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet work best)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ cup milk (or heavy cream for extra richness)
