Stuffed Pasta Shells with Ground Turkey and Spinach

1. Cook the Pasta Shells:
– In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside to cool slightly.2. Prepare the Filling:
– In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground turkey and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
– Add the minced garlic and chopped spinach to the skillet, cooking until the spinach is wilted. Season with salt, pepper, and dried Italian herbs. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
– In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked turkey and spinach mixture with ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, and the beaten egg. Mix until well combined.

3. Stuff the Shells:
– Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
– Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce evenly on the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
– Using a spoon, fill each pasta shell with the turkey and spinach mixture and place them in the baking dish, open side up.

4. Assemble and Bake:
– Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the stuffed shells, ensuring they are well covered. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top.
– Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

5. Serve:
– Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired before serving.
