Add the vodka: Add 200 to 300 ml of vodka, making sure the cloves are completely covered.

Infuse the mixture: Close the jar tightly and place it in a dark place, at room temperature. Let it sit for a week. It is important to shake the jar once a day to enhance the extraction of the properties of the nail.

Filter the liquid: After seven days, strain the infusion to separate the cloves. The resulting liquid will be your concentrated repellent.

Package for daily use: You can pour the liquid into a spray bottle for easy application on skin, clothing or even on curtains and door and window frames.

Advantages of this repellent

It has a pleasant aroma, with spicy notes that are repellent to insects but pleasant to people.

It’s inexpensive: with just two accessible ingredients you can prepare an amount that will last you months.

Its effectiveness is backed by popular use by previous generations.

Additional tips:
Test it first on a small area of your skin to rule out any sensitivity, especially if you are applying it directly to the body.

Reapply every 3 or 4 hours if you are outdoors or if you sweat a lot.

Store leftover concentrate in the refrigerator or in a cool place to preserve it better.

If you don’t have vodka, you can use ethyl alcohol, although the aroma will be a little stronger.

Avoid applying it near the eyes, nose or mucous membranes, as it can cause irritation due to the alcohol content.

You can also spray it on your bed, mosquito nets, curtains, or window frames, especially on summer nights.

For extra potency, add a few drops of citronella, eucalyptus, or lavender essential oil, which also act as natural repellents.

If you have a garden or plants on the balcony, you can spray the repellent around the pots to ward off insects without damaging the plants.
