Step-by-Step Guide:
1️⃣ Blot the Stain: As soon as the stain happens, use a paper towel or clean cloth to blot (not rub!) the excess grease. Rubbing can push the grease deeper into the fabric.
2️⃣ Apply Baking Soda or Cornstarch: Sprinkle a generous amount over the stain and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. This will absorb the grease and lift it from the fabric.
3️⃣ Brush Away the Powder: After it has soaked up the grease, gently brush off the baking soda or cornstarch. You should already see an improvement.
4️⃣ Apply Dish Soap: Squeeze a small amount of dishwashing liquid directly onto the stain. Using your toothbrush, gently scrub in circular motions to break down the grease.
5️⃣ Let It Sit: Leave the dish soap on for 5 minutes to allow it to work its magic.
6️⃣ Rinse with Warm Water: Run warm water over the treated area while gently rubbing the fabric between your fingers.
7️⃣ Wash as Usual: Launder the item according to its care instructions. Before drying, check to make sure the stain is completely gone—heat can set a stain permanently. If any residue remains, repeat the process before drying.
Why This Works
✔ Baking Soda/Cornstarch absorbs the excess grease so it doesn’t spread.
✔ Dish Soap emulsifies the remaining grease, allowing it to rinse out easily.
✔ Gentle scrubbing ensures the stain lifts without damaging the fabric.
